Founder's Journal

When I moved to New York, I found myself craving stillness amidst the city’s fast-paced culture. I turned to new hobbies—running through Brooklyn Bridge Park, coloring, and losing myself in books (mainly by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie).

During that time, I discovered apps that let me track my reading and connect with other readers. It sparked an idea: what if there was a space like this for beauty lovers?

I wanted Vanity to bring back the exciting feeling I had the first time I discovered eyeliner on my mom’s vanity—a feeling of playful exploration, free from the pressures of influencer culture and over-consumerism. Vanity is about rediscovering beauty in its purest form—fun, authentic, and deeply personal.

Building Vanity has been full of learning curves, from figuring out design details to navigating the technical side of creating an app. I’ve discovered how much time, money, and energy goes into bringing an idea to life—and I’ve also discovered how thrilling it feels to create something from scratch.

There have been moments of pure excitement, and moments of self-doubt when I’ve wondered if anyone would care about what I’m building—or if it’s even needed. But Vanity keeps pulling me forward. She’s my first born. It’s become a way for me to blend my creative side with my love of beauty and tech.

I’m so grateful you’re here following along. This page is where I’ll share the story behind Vanity: the ideas, the building process, and all the little milestones along the way.

The countdown below is ticking toward our very first version—and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Let’s rediscover beauty together.
